Shopware brings its Integration with PayPal to the U.S. market

Leading open-source ecommerce platform Shopware announced today that it will expand its collaboration with PayPal to the U.S. This expansion will bring Shopware merchants the ability to reach more customers globally while expanding customer payment choice and speeding up checkout through PayPal Complete Payments (PPCP).

Shopware has successfully integrated with PayPal in the EU since 2009 with over 20,000 merchants processing more than five billion in total payments annually through PayPal’s integration. Starting in January 2024, U.S. based Shopware merchants can integrate with PayPal through the Shopware app.

The Shopware and PayPal integration empowers Shopware merchants to increase conversions and sales by providing their customers with a diverse range of flexible payment options and a seamless, secure checkout experience. Through a convenient and simple integration, U.S. based Shopware merchants can access PPCP, including multiple payment methods like buy now, pay later, invoicing, Venmo (US only), and additional PayPal solutions in just a few clicks, saving merchants costly integration time and resources.

European Shopware merchants have already been able to enjoy the trusted, multisolution integration experience. “With the PayPal Checkout integration, we offer our customers a wide range of different payment options, which is something that’s really important to merchants. We have set up online shops in various countries and moved our online shop system to Shopware in 2016. That was great. The integration was completed within half a day, which was very fast,” said Daniel Bohne, managing director of Berlin-based bicycle shop Bike Mailorder. “I can definitely recommend the combination of Shopware and PayPal because the administration in the backend is super easy. The integration is super straightforward, and you see immediate results.”

“We are excited to celebrate yet another remarkable milestone in our collaboration with Shopware, which has resulted in impressive adoption rates,” said David Bruce, VP, Global Head of Channel Partnerships, PayPal. “This expansion of our integration is a perfect symbiosis where Shopware’s innovation harmonizes perfectly with the global trust associated with the PayPal brand. Together, we’re empowering merchants worldwide to offer a diverse range of payment options that improve customer experience and drive conversions.”

Together, Shopware and PayPal are providing a solution that reshapes the ecommerce environment and gives merchants the foundation for ongoing business success.
