The holiday season kicks off with the gift of Shopware 6.6.9.0! This update is packed with exciting features: effortlessly create custom fields to comply with the GPSR (General Product Safety Regulation), unlock new possibilities in the Scene Editor, and more. Dive into the details in the sections below.
Overview:
New feature for the Product Safety Regulation: Custom Fields in CMS layouts
It is now possible to use the content of custom fields in CMS blocks in the form of variables. This enables you to easily display self-defined attributes, e.g. of products or manufacturers, on product detail pages or in your Shopping Experiences.
You can find out how you can use this to comply with the new Product Safety Regulation in our blog post.
Exciting new hubs you should check out
While not part of this release, we’re excited to introduce two fresh pages that deserve your attention:
Release Hub: Winter Edition 2024
Get a clear overview of the highlights from past releases with the Winter Edition Release Hub. Explore exciting topics like the Shopware Sales Agent, the Insider Previews program, and accessibility updates – all presented in a clear and engaging format. Explore now!
Shopware Community Hub
Your new go-to destination for everything Shopware: the Community Hub is here to connect, educate, and empower the Shopware ecosystem. Merchants, developers, and partners alike can create profiles, join events, listen to podcasts, dive into forums, and engage with a growing network of like-minded professionals.
And the best part? With our MVP launch in November, developers have the chance to get in early, share their insights, and help craft a hub that’s truly built for the community. Don’t miss out – sign up today and grow with us! Join the community now.
Hot Reload: Support for multiple themes (SCSS variables)
Developers can now work more efficiently as unselected themes are skipped during hot reload. This speeds up the development process and ensures smoother adjustments of SCSS variables in projects with multiple themes.
Accessibility improvements
Shopware takes new significant steps in digital accessibility: new ARIA landmarks, internal skip links, and precise labels for <iframe>
elements greatly enhance navigation for screen reader and keyboard users. These changes promote a more inclusive user experience for everyone.
Improvements in category and product indexing
Handling large datasets is now easier with optimized category and product indexing. Splitting indexing messages into smaller chunks improves performance, especially for projects with complex hierarchies.
Additional improvements and bug fixes
The new Shopware version includes more enhancements. Take a look at the release notes for a more detailed overview: Release Notes 6.6.9.0
This section is about features that are not included in the Community Edition. Take a look at our overview to compare the different Shopware plans and activate the Shopware Commercial extension to use the commercial features.
Update for the Scene Editor: new shapes, materials, and more
Just last month, we launched the Scene Editor as a blueprint feature available through the Insider Preview Program. With this release, the Scene Editor is already receiving some practical updates.
What’s new in the Scene Editor:
New basic shapes (walls, bubbles, and more)
New basic material settings (roughness, metallness)
Easier switching products within one scene due to grouping hierarchy
A chair on a new base shape (cylinder). Next to it, the new grouping function is displayed.
The Scene Editor is a revolutionary tool that allows you to bring your products to life in 3D – no costly photoshoots required. Tailor every detail to perfection: adjust backgrounds, colors, lighting, and camera angles effortlessly. It’s designed to accelerate product launches, give your customers confidence in their purchases, and potentially boost conversions while reducing returns.
We wish you lots of fun and success with the latest version of Shopware.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all GitHub contributors for their pull requests that have been incorporated into this version. 💙
