Legally compliant invoicing: Support for e-invoices in Shopware

From January 1, 2025, the issuing of electronic invoices for B2B transactions will be gradually introduced in Germany. To help merchants seamlessly comply with this legal requirement, Shopware now supports e-invoices in the ZUGFeRD format.

With this feature, invoice data can either be provided as a separate XML file or embedded directly into the familiar PDF invoice document. The latter offers a particularly convenient solution, allowing merchants to maintain their existing processes while ensuring compliance with the EU Standard EN 16931.

This functionality helps businesses modernize their invoicing processes and benefit from more efficient, digital administrative workflows – without adding unnecessary complexity.

Improved email configuration with Office365

Since many merchants use Office365 for email delivery, Microsoft’s deprecation of Basic Authentication is a significant change. To ensure a secure email delivery, we have implemented support for the OAuth method. With this modern authentication method, you can easily configure your Office365 account for email sending.

The switch to OAuth not only enhances security but also ensures that your store can continue sending emails, such as customer communications and order confirmations, without interruption. This highly requested feature makes your email setup future-proof.

Use AI Copilot – without limits

This change is version-independent and has been available in the product since mid-December – but we still want to highlight it in these release news.

As of now, there are no daily usage limits for AI Copilot features! Initially, we set daily limits to better manage usage. However, in practice, these limits proved to be more of a hindrance:

  • Merchants who used AI features extensively in their live stores encountered errors when they hit the limits.

  • Some merchants hesitated to try the features at all, fearing they might reach a limit.

With the removal of rate limits, merchants can now use AI-powered features without restrictions, without worrying about limitations or unexpected errors. This not only improves usability but also provides us with better insights into which features are most valuable – allowing us to refine them further.
